Forget VR games, its all about VR Exploration

I tried playing games with the Oculus Rift DK1. It wasn’t great, especially for FPS. I know that many others are fine with it, but it was just too damn fast for me and made me feel woozy. I LOVED exploring scenes though. Apparently I wasn’t the only one. One of the big trends right now for VR in general is recreating environments that we have all wanted to explore.

Here are a few iconic examples of starship bridges you might recognize.

It isn’t all spaceships though, here are a couple anime scenes recreated so that you can walk around and see what is going on.

I really like this concept. I know I intend to spend my time exploring things without the stress of a “game” attached. I can think of a rediculous amount of places I’d love to explore.

  • Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory
  • Doc Brown’s laboratory
  • Several places from Labyrinth
  • a few sets from the dark crystal
  • The great tree from Avatar
