Building a cylon raider for a good cause

You can see that this obviously isn’t finished yet. But clearly, the shape of the original cylon raider ship can bee seen amongst these metal bones.  A man by the name of Gene Haggerty has been working on this for a while as a project to support kidsandcanines.org. Gene has spent almost $10k of his own money so far making this happen. you can read more about it in these forums.

Origin of the Cylon?

Looks vaguely familiar there. I wonder if there was any influence on the costume designer. Considering that the first one began in 78-79 the timing is feasible that the artist could have been influenced by the style. Then again, I guess the face isn’t so original that two people couldn’t have just come up with a narrow slit for an eye.

 

This issue of Perry Rhodan was released in 1970, and the illustrator was Gray Morrow, a prominent illustrator. The designer of the Cylon is Andrew ProbertJudging from this in depth breakdown of the design, I’d have to guess that it was a very vague influence if any. Most likely a coincidence.
