Super Mario brother’s kimono

1360368758-2

Next time you find yourself in need of a game themed kimono, why not choose Mario? This wonderfully detailed rendition of the mario landscape adorns the midsection of a kimono with character accents at the base. Simply fantastic. Is it wrong of me to want to see a Ninja Gaiden one though?

Real Life MarioCart!

Waterloo Labs knows how to have a good time. Everyone loves MarioCart. No, be quiet, EVERYONE loves MarioCart.  They’ve decided that it would be just as much fun in real life and rigged some go carts to do the job.

They’ve actually modified them to lose steering control when you hit certain items, like a bananna peel and they may have even rigged the throttles so that you can get a speed boost!

It kind of looks like most of the video is rigged for best case scenario, but damn it still looks fun.

Giant NES takes up space, doesn’t play games

giant_nes_console_2

I know what you’re thinking. I really wish my NES took up the entire freaking room. Well, now it can!  Pixel art studios actually builds stuff like this! While it doesn’t actually play games, it is pretty awesome looking. They’ve even made some nice end tables shaped like cartridges to go with it. You can see a tiny bit of their pixel art work on the wall too.

If I had a gaming cave, I would seriously consider something like this. Hell, those pixel portraits of stained wood would actually look nice on my mantle!

Custom belt includes the entire last level of super mario brothers.

I absolutely love this belt. I would wear it so very very hard. Hand carved by Salukifeathers, it includes the entire last level of super mario brothers. She made it as a gift for her younger brother and I really don’t know how she’s going to beat this one. The only thing that would be better (in my opinion) would be if it had the original Mario sprite for the buckle instead of the racoon tailed one, or possibly just an NES controller.

Giant cardboard gameboy, because… why not?

It seems that the Art department of the University of Delaware has a class wherein you produce massive cardboard things. MaboroshiTira on DeviantArt has posted her Giant Game Boy and received some attention.

Reddit User mickiMAUS mentions another that I’d love to see:

I remember this project! I made a giant cardboard pencil sharpener you can stick your arms and legs into!

Nintendo+Zombies: 28 bits later

MikenGary got selected to be a participant in the WiiU challenge. They were given a Wii U and free reign over nintendo sound library. What they ended up with was this fun little skit that is literally packed with game references.

I got to participate a little bit by supplying the flaming balls for Mario. They’re just tennis balls with lighter fluid (for a zippo) on them. We had fire extenguishers, wet towels, anxious onlookers, and fearless actors. It was fun!

If you’ve got a few minutes, you should check out their other videos too.

Zelda cake makes looks adorable, possibly delicious

Created by the folks at the Black Cherry Cake Company, this cake is simply fantastic. Even though I personally associate zelda to the original Nintendo Entertainment System, I can identify with the craftsman ship on display here with the edible Nintendo 64.

Check out some of the detail shots below to see what an amazing job they did. If you get a chance, you should check out some of the other cakes on their site too. That predator one is rediculously well done.

The last issue of Nintendo power: an homage to the first.

A smooth move on the part of Nintendo Power. The very last issue is a revamped and prettied up version of the art from the first issue. Classy as can possibly be. Goodbye old friend, we had good times together.  Your metroid maps saved me hours of confusion.
