While it may be painfully obvious that I’m a fan of Zork, (notice the title of the site? I got the Grue from zork), it appears that I’m not the only one who values it so highly. Marc Blank and Dave Lebling, shown above, have earned the Pioneer Award for their work.

Wired has carried out an interesting interview with Dave Lebling, but you have to explore it on their site, in the format of a text adventure. That’s right, you just have to give it a try to see how it works.

ZORK on EVERYTHING!

Over the years at Hackaday.com I’ve seen plenty of incarnations of Zork.  Here’s a collection, not all from that awesome site.

Zork on a TypeWriter

Just like a scene out of Fringe, this typewriter starts banging on its own to answer your requests.

Zork on a Kindle

Called “kindle quest” you can actually play along on your kindle.

Zork on the Arduino

I’m somewhat surprised it took so long for this one to happen

Dial a Grue

Hacked TTD gets the ability to play some Zork

Zork on the Microtouch

To mark 30 years since he first played it, Rossum ported a Z-machine interpreter to the microtouch to play Zork

Of course, you could always just pull up a browser and play online if you’re feeling lazy
