While I enjoy following along with the twitter updates and imagery, I really wanted to call out this incredible free gift they are giving away. If you go here and look around you’ll find there are a few free things, like some presentations from panels they’ve given, but the best part is this free template for Samus’ helmet from Metroid.
Foam crafting can be fairly daunting to a beginner and this project is pretty perfect to get started with. It doesn’t have a ton of parts and you can get a pretty impressive result.
So go download it, follow the instructions on how to bevel your edges and glue it up. You may be surprised at how easy this stuff can be once you get your hands dirty. Of course, once you get this built you’re going to have to learn how to paint it and add some nice lights, but that’s another tutorial for another time.
