DIY X-wing bunk from the coolest dad ever

X-Wing-Bed-2

For any star wars fan, this is an absolute dream come true. There isn’t a person out there that didn’t at least fantasize a little bit about flying an X-wing.  This badass bedroom set was built with some incredible detail.  I know I could imagine hanging out up in the cockpit, especially once I saw the kid was up there watching movies.

I have to admit though, a snow speeder with the bed built into it would be pretty sweet.

The battle of Hoth in your living room

I’m working on a giant deathstar in my livingroom for a Hackaday.com project. Since my friends have all seen a few pictures of my livingroom being taken over, one of them sent me this diorama of the battle of Hoth.

The quality here is insane. I can’t get over how great the explosions and smoke look. This guy has done an amazing job.  There’s a forum thread where the build is shown in more detail, along with some discussion on how it was made.  Here are a few select pictures from the thread.

There are a few more videos that go into detail as well.

and if you’d like to pull of those explosions on your projects, he has even done a cool little tutorial!

Fantastic Star Wars Trilogy Maps

starwarsillustration

Andrew DeGraff is an illustrator who is quite talented. It would appear that he has a taste for maps as there’s an entire section for them in his portfolio site. These aren’t just any maps though. As you can see in this one, it is a map of the geography as it appears in the Star Wars Trilogy.

Fantastically geeky sculptures made from computer parts

Shankalonian’s idea of using broken electronic equipment to construct these sic-fi spaceships was, in my opinion, a stroke of genius. These sculptures all look freakin’ fantastic. It is no wonder that most of them are already sold from Shankalonian’s Etsy shop.

These are just a few of the more popular designs. You’ll have to go there and see for yourself what else is available.

6 badass gingerbread spaceships

Firefly gingerbread ship

Here we have a completely edible Firefly class ship… the Serenity. Created by SuperSop, you can see the entire build gallery here and even download the template if you want to try on your own!

Here’s another extremely well done Serenity, again with full gallery of build pictures. This one was made by Kristoffer Gressli

U.S.S. Enterprise gingerbread ship

Instructibles user Audreyh4 has done a fine job with this U.S.S. Enterprise.

Reddit user nem8 has built one as well. You can see him here flying it around… as you would normally do.

The gingerbread Millennium Falcon

This fairly amazing Millennium Falcon is on display at the Canadian national gingerbread showcase. It was made by the Canoe Brewpub. I particularly love chewie on this one.

This well done one comes along with a fun build video too!
