8 Props to 3D Print for The Ultimate Star Trek (TOS) Cosplay

Star Trek is such a huge franchise with nice distinctive dilineations between the segments. There’s The Original Series, Next Generation, Voyager, etc. Each has it’s own unique aesthetic, and its own massive fanbase. In this collection of 3D prints, I’m just focusing on The Original Series (my favorite). I’ve dug through thingiverse to find the 3D prints you need to accessorize the perfect Star Trek (TOS) cosplay. Happy 3D Printing!

Star Trek Badge – by Nabzim

This was part of my Halloween costume in 2015. I was unhappy with the available choices in badges so I designed my own that is removable, so that I would still have a use-able sweater after Halloween. I printed white (pla) then painted it black.

Star Trek: The Original Series Replica Movie Prop ear piece – by Jininjin

“This is based on the Technical Manual by Franz Joseph.

This works with a ear bud. I have tested this with skull candy earbuds only.”

Original Series Hand phaser by Shipbrook

“A replica of the Phaser (Type I) prop from the original Star Trek series. This is the “midgrade” version (detailed enough to be seen in close-up, but no moving parts or electric components); a “hero” version is also in the works, and there is also a Type II body into which these will fit.”

Star Trek Original Series – Hand Phaser Type II Body – by Shipbrook

“This is a midgrade version of the Phaser II pistol from the original Star Trek series. It has a working latch to retain the Phaser I, but apart from that the knobs and trigger aren’t made to be functional.

The model is split into multiple sections for best printing results, and for ease of painting. Some assembly is required. (Okay, a lot of assembly is required.) Some parts which make a single unit (“Ten Turn” knob, side knob, rear fins) are STLs which contain multiple models.”

Star Trek Original Series Mirror Mirror Knife and Variant – by celticht32

“This is a Replica of the Mirror Mirror Knife used by the crew in the original series. Additionally I created a variant as a dress dagger. “

Star Trek TOS Tricorder 50th Anniversary – by Wythkyn

“I wanted to do something special to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Star Trek (September 2016) so I recreated the original series tricorder for your downloading and printing pleasure. I had a blast making it and I’m happy to upload it here! “

Star Trek TOS Laser Scalpels – by Dr. Merkin

“My interpretation of the complete set of laser scalpels from the original Star Trek. The picture includes my other medical toys/props for context. Notice the only actual salt and pepper shakers are the two Danish Eames style shakers painted red and green, like the originals! The original scalpels were not really salt & pepper shakers, but lathed aluminum props made to match the style of the Eames shakers.”

Star Trek (TOS) Communicator – by the Haggard

“This is a modified Sketchup Warehouse file from https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=65bb3d97d781f3b182943be7b02ac5fb

The original model was not at all ready for printing. There was no tolerances for the lid/screen and no form of hinge. I have devised a hinge that uses a ball and socket with friction. Pops in nicely. However… my first print was not well finished and had some printing problems… after running it through NetFabb I think it is ready… but my printer has died! Expecting a replacement soon… but until then, here is the file as it is. I will post updates as I get a chance to test the prints.

UPDATE: I got my replacement printer, loaded up “pure” PLA (colorless) and let it go with the new STL. The body came out perfect… the cover/antenna grid came out perfect… as far as the mesh is concerned… but the walls are too thin as seen in the photo where I am bending it with minimal finger pressure. So the body is ready… back to the CAD-board for the cover. It needs thicker walls.

UPDATE TWO: Wythkyn just made a cover that fits this communicator body. Follow his instructions at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1622516″
