Help Fund Gorgeous Stop Motion with “Nowheres Wolf”

Stop motion movies are like sacred things in the practical effects enthusiast’s mind. It is such a demonstration of physical processes and skilled artisans that it is always awe inspiring.  This new project on the crowdfunding platform Seed & Spark is sharing their process in creating a short film called Nowheres Wolf: A Call Not Answered.

Using the magic of stop-motion animation, our film aims to change the way we think about wolves. By showing the vulnerable, sentient and caring family side of the wolf, we can overcome fear with understanding. We are also developing and sharing non-toxic fabrication methods for artists and makers.

The film itself looks gorgeous but what I really enjoy is following along as they create the tools and pieces to bring it to life.  Check out these rig tests.

Here’s more information from the creators of the project, in regards to how important this little rig is.

Below is a photo of the bare armature of the wolf that took about 2 months to build by the collaboration of three people: Sarah Chellis, my dad Jim Moulton and myself (Suzanne Moulton) as well as some great expert advise from Jeramy Spake, who is a world-class stop-motion armature designer.

So go check it out, and support them if you can!
